Ed Clark, who oversaw the Renton factory where the Alaska Airlines plane involved in a blowout was completed, has left Boeing amid scrutiny around production and safety measures following a mid-air incident last month. The company reorganized its leadership team at the Commercial Airplanes division, with Katie Ringgold replacing Clark as vice president and general manager. Boeing has been working to improve its safety procedures after the January accident on a new Alaska Airlines 737 MAX 9, in which a cabin panel became detached in midair. The company plans to meet with the US Federal Aviation Authority (FAA) next week, following the grounding of the MAX 9 and a production audit by the FAA. The preliminary report from the US National Safety Transportation Board revealed that the panel that flew off the jet was missing key bolts, raising further concerns about Boeing’s manufacturing process.
