Akbar S Babar addressed a press conference and accused PTI of intra-party election fraud, stating that the election was more likely a selection as candidates were not allowed to file nomination papers for the PTI chairmanship. He questioned the legitimacy of the elections where founding members were not allowed to contest for the chairmanship and pointed out that the party constitution does not mention a caretaker chairman. Earlier, Barrister Gohar Ali Khan was elected unopposed as PTI’s new chairman, replacing incarcerated former prime minister Imran Khan. The intra-party polls were held on orders of the Election Commission of Pakistan, with voters using an online app to cast their votes. Prior to this, Akbar S Babar had planned to contest in the election but was told that the nomination papers, voter list, and election rules did not exist. Barrister Ali Zafar had announced that Imran Khan would not be contesting the intra-party polls and Barrister Gohar Khan had been nominated for the position of party chief.
