Peshawar: Justice Shakeel Ahmed of the High Court remarked in the case of power cuts that electricity theft is not being done by the common man and those who are doing it should not be let off, electricity theft is being done by factory owners and causing problems for the public.

During the hearing of the petition against the power cuts in the area of Matani, advocate Adnan Khan Yusufzai said that electricity has been cut off for a year and people are facing difficulties. The lawyer PESCO said that people are not paying their bills which is why electricity has been cut off.

Justice Shakeel Ahmed remarked that you should feel the pain of the people, if there is no electricity then many problems arise, are your departmental people involved in electricity theft, do you not know? The staff of the department does not do their work which is causing losses as well.

Justice Shakeel Ahmed remarked that if you show a little empathy, then some things can be corrected, take action against those who do not pay their bills, but give electricity to those who do pay, what punishment are you giving to those who are paying bills?

Justice Sahibzada Asadullah remarked that when you give electricity, people will pay their bills, when you do not give electricity, where will people pay bills from?

The petitioner Saif said that for a year the electricity in our area has been cut off, there are a lot of problems due to the lack of electricity, we have been forced to take extreme measures.

The court asked PESCO to submit a report for the next hearing. The court said that you submit the report, we will decide on the case in the next hearing. The hearing was adjourned until April 30th.
