Quetta: President of the country Asif Ali Zardari has said that the development and prosperity of Balochistan is the top priority of the current government. Addressing the attendees at a dinner hosted by Chief Minister of Balochistan Mir Sardar Mengal, the President said that by making Balochistan prosperous and developed, they will play an effective role in strengthening Pakistan. Balochistan holds special importance due to its mineral resources and long coastal belt.
He said that efforts will be made to make barren lands of Balochistan fertile through effective agricultural practices, and the 18th constitutional amendment in our era has been passed to give rights to provinces, benefiting all provinces.
The President said that the world is progressing rapidly, and the need of the hour is to extract Balochistan’s mineral resources in a modern way. Oil and gas are present here but we have not yet stabilized this sector on modern lines, but now is the time to extract Balochistan’s natural resources and fulfill the country’s economic needs.
He stated that through the Ehsaas Income Support Program, packages are being provided to low-income and deserving families, benefiting the poor families. Efforts are being made to expand programs like the Ehsaas Income Support Program, and his aim is to work as much as possible for the development of the whole country, especially for Balochistan and its people.
President Zardari said that the provincial government of Balochistan will be supported so that opportunities for development can be created for the people. The issues of Balochistan should be resolved through political dialogue.
