Islamabad: The Ministry of Religious Affairs has allowed women to perform Hajj without a male guardian in the case of being unmarried or having no husband. According to a notification issued by the Ministry of Religious Affairs, women can perform Hajj without a male guardian if they show permission from their parents or husband. In the case of the death of both parents or the husband, women can go for Hajj by getting a signature from the closest male relative such as a brother, son, uncle, or nephew on the affidavit.

The spokesperson clarified that this clarification was given at the insistence of those women who were eager to go for Hajj but the authorized affidavit only mentioned permission from parents or husband.

According to the Ministry of Religious Affairs, the previous notification did not have the option for these two specific male guardian relationships in case of their death, but now a new circular has been issued for the ease of such women.
