Lahore: Inspector General (IG) Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar, while rejecting the impact of the moral decline of Punjab police after the incident at Bahawalnagar police station, said that attempts are being made on social media to create friction between institutions by using incidents to create a basis for outlawed organizations in the public.

IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar, in an important video message regarding the Bahawalnagar incident, said that the morale of Punjab police is what we fight terrorists, thieves, and dacoits with.

He said that social media is trying to create friction between institutions based on the incident in Bahawalnagar, although both institutions have taken immediate action and the RPO Bahawalpur and local army command visited the area together.

IG Punjab said that by creating an impact on social media by basing incidents on outlawed organizations, an attempt is being made to create friction between institutions in the public. The outlawed organization is trying to create an impact that we will not fall behind hidden enemies.

He said that videos of some old incidents have been presented in a context different from reality to spread despair among the young police force of Punjab. During the inquiry, the legal requirements will be fulfilled.

He said that the Punjab government has also formed an inquiry committee to identify the personal actions of those involved in the incident and to determine the responsible persons. Armed forces, Punjab police, and civil authorities are included in the government’s established inquiry committee.

IG Punjab said that an unsuccessful attempt has been made to break the familial relationship between the leadership of Punjab police and the force. Dr. Usman Anwar said that the fight of Punjab police against dacoits, thieves, criminals, and anti-social elements will continue with the same dedication and enthusiasm. The police and all security agencies will continue their mission to eradicate terrorists and criminals and to make Pakistan secure.

IG said that it is essential for the force not to pay attention to social media trolling or unnecessary criticism and not be misled by propaganda, as police leadership and the force have together buried the intentions of the enemies at places like Mianwali, Kacha Operation, DIG Khan, and Jaranwala.

He said that the welfare of the force, 23 thousand promotions, new training, provision of housing, legal aid, and the department standing with its officers on every occasion, and it will continue to stand, is the backbone of the service and protection of the country and the nation, which the force must fulfill with full dedication.

Earlier, in a statement issued by the ISPR, it was said that a transparent inquiry of the incident and identification of the perpetrators of legal violations will be carried out through a joint inquiry involving police and security personnel.
