Islamabad: The Supreme Court has issued a written order for the first hearing of the self-notice on the letters of 6 judges of the Islamabad High Court, instructing the Pakistan Bar Council, Supreme Court Bar, and the federal government to seek recommendations in response as an institution.
The order for the first hearing by the Supreme Court stated that notice was taken of the seriousness of the matter concerning the 6 judges of the Islamabad High Court.
It was stated in the order that a meeting was held with the Prime Minister considering the seriousness of the matter and under Article 248, the Prime Minister was granted exemptions in the full court session.
It was explained that under Article 248, the Prime Minister or Law Minister cannot be summoned.
The order mentioned that according to the Attorney General of Pakistan, the federal Law Minister visited the residence of former Chief Justice Tasaddaq Hussain Jilani in Lahore and later provided authorized TORs regarding the inquiry commission.
The Supreme Court stated that unfortunately, a negative campaign was run against Tasaddaq Hussain Jilani on social media.
The court stated in its order that according to the Attorney General, there is no incident from the tenure of the current Chief Justice of Pakistan in the letters of the judges.
The Supreme Court has sought recommendations from the Pakistan Bar Council, Supreme Court Bar, and the federal government for a response as an institution on the matter concerning the letters of the judges of the High Court.
