The Supreme Court has directed full compliance with the orders regarding the publication of content insulting the court. The government has warned the media to refrain from publishing materials that insult the judiciary. The Press Information Department has issued a defamation notice to the Pakistan Broadcasters Association, All Pakistan Newspapers Society, and Council of Pakistan Newspaper Editors.
The orders state that individuals or media organizations publishing materials insulting the court, or re-publishing such content, are also committing contempt of court. Therefore, the media should refrain from publishing content insulting the court, as action can be taken against them for contempt of court. The Information Department has instructed all TV channels, print and online media organizations to fully implement the Supreme Court’s orders.
