The Sindh High Court has ordered the Ministry of Defense to obtain reports from all agencies and present them at the next hearing regarding the requests for the recovery of missing citizens, including residents from various areas of Karachi since 2018.

Under the leadership of Justice Naematullah Phulpoto, a two-member bench heard requests for the recovery of missing citizens, including residents from various areas of Karachi since 2018. The investigating officer informed the court that 23 JIT meetings have been held for the recovery of missing citizen Syed Naveed from the South area, but the category could not be determined.

Expressing dismay over the failure to recover the citizen, the court remarked that even after 23 JIT meetings, the category could not be determined. The traditional reports presented by the citizen’s family to the police have left them disappointed.

The family of missing citizen Abdullah from Mangu Pir also appeared in court. The family stated that Abdullah has been missing from Mangu Pir since 2018, and they have been receiving phone calls demanding a ransom of 700,000 rupees from a number located in Dera Ghazi Khan. The family provided the phone number to the police, but no action has been taken by the police so far.

Expressing skepticism over the performance of police officials, the court remarked, “Has this number been investigated?” The family of the citizen has been going around courts and police stations since 2018. Do you have any idea of the difficulties they are facing?”

The investigating officer stated that the location of the given number is in Dera Ghazi Khan but the number is shut down. The court remarked that the citizen’s family has submitted FIR reports and they are receiving calls from this number, and they are claiming that the number is shut down.

The court ordered for action to be continued for the recovery of Syed Naveed Ali, Idris from Rasala, Abdullah missing from Mangu Pir, and other citizens. The court also instructed the Ministry of Defense to obtain reports from all agencies and present them at the next hearing. The court has directed the FIA to obtain a report from the travel agency regarding the missing citizens. The court has also postponed the hearing for DIJ investigation in the case of citizen Abdullah, requesting their report by August 21st.
