In a devastating turn of events, a wife was brutally shot multiple times in the head on the very day she acquired a protective order against her husband. The incident occurred in Fish Lake Township, where 35-year-old Sarah Jane Carda lost her life.
Her husband, Mike Larry Carda, aged 39, is now facing serious charges, including second-degree murder, attempted second-degree murder, and second-degree assault with a deadly weapon.
According to reports, law enforcement had been dispatched to the couple’s residence on October 6, where a significant number of firearms were reportedly present. After knocking on the door and hearing a man’s voice without any response, a deputy proceeded to knock on a nearby window. It was at this point that a woman’s voice warned, “he’s got a gun.” However, despite repeated requests, no one inside the house came out.
Shortly after, law enforcement officers heard three gunshots, prompting them to step away from the window as the bullets shattered the glass. In order to gain access to the property, a drone was employed to enter through the broken window.
Sarah had obtained a protective order against her husband earlier that day, which tragically proved ineffective. This order was issued as a result of a previous incident in which Mike is alleged to have forcefully pushed Sarah to the ground, preventing her from calling the police.
