Russia has launched waves of missiles on Ukraine’s biggest cities, resulting in at least 18 deaths and over 130 injuries. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy promised a strong response to the attacks, which targeted more than 200 sites, including homes and residential buildings. The cities of Kharkiv, Kyiv, and Kherson were hit, with residents describing the horror and destruction caused by the bombings. Analysts believe Russia had stockpiled missiles in preparation for this campaign and US officials suspect it was aimed at probing Ukraine’s air defenses. The relentless bombardment has left Ukrainians on edge, with civilian casualties on the rise. The United Nations has reported over 10,000 civilian deaths and nearly 20,000 injuries as a result of Russia’s invasion in February 2022. The Kremlin denies targeting civilians, claiming the raids struck military-related targets.
