The Electoral Commission of Pakistan (ECP), led by CEC Sikandar Sultan Raja, heard a case involving PTI-backed independent candidates joining the Sunni Ittehad Council (SIC) after the elections. Barrister Ali Zafar argued that they have the right to reserved seats in the assembly after submitting a list of candidates. However, PTI candidates contested as independents after losing the party symbol. Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz’s Azam Nazir Tarar opposed granting seats to SIC, claiming the party did not participate in the elections. JUI-F’s Kamran Murtaza also objected to allocating seats to SIC, as they did not submit a list for reserved seats.
