Euro 5 Clean petrol and diesel will significantly reduce environmental pollution, Saudi energy ministry says.
Riyadh: Saudi Arabia has introduced a petrol and diesel in the market that will reduce emissions from vehicles and prove to be environmentally friendly.
According to global news agencies, Saudi Arabia, due to its environmental-friendly nature, will replace existing petroleum products in the market with ‘Euro 5 Clean’ petrol and diesel.
Euro 5 Clean Diesel contains a maximum of 10 parts per million (ppm) sulfur and smoke opacity of 1.0-1.5 ppm, while diesel sulfur content is a maximum of 500 ppm and smoke opacity is up to 0.46 ppm with Euro 2 specifications.
This will result in a significant reduction in environmental pollution.
The statement issued by the Saudi Ministry of Energy states that the new fuel, Euro 5 Clean, is suitable for all means of transportation, and the purpose of this change is to provide an extremely effective, low-emission fuel, which reflects the Crown Prince’s commitment to environmental friendliness.
The Ministry of Energy said that Euro 5 Clean petrol and diesel aim to reduce emissions from vehicles and apply a circular carbon economy approach to achieve zero carbon emissions by 2060.
The Saudi Ministry of Energy further stated that the new petrol and diesel will also contribute to achieving the goal of ‘Green Saudi Arabia’, creating a clean, healthy, and safe environment through the provision of the best standards and modern technology.
