The dire humanitarian crisis in Gaza continues to worsen, with at least 30 people reported killed in air strikes on refugee camps in central Gaza. The United Nations has expressed increasing difficulty in getting desperately needed aid into the area. The UN’s humanitarian aid chief, Martin Griffiths, highlighted the challenges on the ground, including constant bombardments, aid convoys coming under fire, and difficulties in transporting aid into the territory. Israel’s war has resulted in the deaths of over 21,300 Palestinians and displaced 85 percent of the population. Amid the bombardments, a military blockade on the enclave and the restrictions on aid shipments are putting the health of hundreds of thousands of people at risk. The situation is becoming increasingly desperate, with aid groups warning of an imminent risk of famine and the inevitability of an epidemic due to the lack of medical facilities. Despite the UN Security Council passing a resolution to boost aid, the difficulty of getting humanitarian relief persists. Israeli forces continue to target refugee camps in central Gaza, leading to more casualties and further displacement of the population. The UN says that 150,000 people are being forced to leave central Gaza as the Israeli army issues evacuation orders. Amid these challenges, 20 seriously ill patients in Gaza are expected to be allowed to leave for medical treatment in Egypt. The dire situation in Gaza continues to demand urgent attention and action.
