The United Nations relief agency for Palestinian refugees has issued a warning that it will deplete its fuel supply by Wednesday. This raises concerns about the agency’s ability to provide further assistance amidst ongoing Israeli airstrikes in Gaza and the threat of a ground invasion.

The agency’s commissioner, Philippe Lazzarini, expressed his worry that without fuel, they would be unable to meet the increasing needs of the people of Gaza. He emphasized that this situation should not be allowed to happen and called on all relevant parties to allow fuel supplies into Gaza and ensure it is used exclusively for humanitarian operations.

While Mr. Lazzarini acknowledged the entry of the first humanitarian convoy into Gaza as a positive development, he stressed that more sustained aid is necessary. UNRWA’s latest situation report revealed that 29 staff members have been killed and 17 injured since the conflict began. Additionally, 12 displaced people taking shelter at UNRWA schools have been killed, and close to 180 have been injured.

UNRWA shared these updates on their official social media platform, expressing their devastation and grief over the loss of life among their staff and the families affected. They urged the international community to support their efforts and address the urgent humanitarian needs in Gaza.
