The scheduled second round of talks between the Contact and Coordination Committees (CCCs) of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) was postponed on Thursday as both sides needed more time to assess the proposals from their initial meeting. The next meeting is expected to take place on Friday.

The PPP has promised the Nawaz league its support in forming a government and electing the next prime minister, with the condition that the PML-N will support them in elections for key constitutional offices. However, nominating individuals for these positions has proven to be a challenge for PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari.

Former PM Yousuf Raza Gilani was initially a contender for National Assembly speaker, but has been asked to retain his Senate seat, indicating that he may be considered for the position of Senate chairman. Meanwhile, there is talk within the PPP circles that custodians of both houses may come from Sindh. On the other hand, the PML-N has put forward Ayaz Sadiq as their nominee for the position of speaker.

In addition, PPP Information Secretary Faisal Karim Kundi stated that the PTI has not reached out to the party for political reconciliation, despite announcing their intention to contact all political forces. Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari was briefed on Thursday about contacts with other political parties, and an independent candidate from PP-89 Bhakkar, Ameer Muhammad Khan, expressed his intention to join the PPP.
