A heartbreaking incident occurred in India’s Gondia district, where a two-year-old female tiger lost its life after being struck by a speeding car.
The unfortunate victim was identified as a cub of the T-14 tigress from Nagzira National Park in Maharashtra. The incident took place late at night around 10:30 pm on the Gondia-Kohamara highway, specifically in the Murdoli forest area, as confirmed by forest officials.
In response to the accident, a rescue operation was swiftly launched by a forest team led by Pramod Panchbhai, deputy conservator of forest of Gondia division. Unfortunately, despite their efforts, the injured tiger passed away while being transported to Nagpur for medical treatment.

Subsequently, the tiger’s body was sent for post-mortem examination, which will be conducted in accordance with the standard operating procedures of the National Tiger Conservation Authority (NTCA) at the wildlife rescue center in Nagpur.
Forest officials highlight that the location of the accident, connecting Gondia to Kohmara on the highway, falls within the Navegaon-Nagzira corridor of Maharashtra, which is a frequently traversed route for tigers and other wildlife.
Wildlife enthusiasts express their concern over such tragic incidences and call upon the forest department and local administration to develop a permanent solution to prevent future accidents of this nature.
