According to sources, the following individuals are likely to be appointed to cabinet positions in the upcoming government:
- Jalil Abbas Jilani, a retired diplomat, is expected to be appointed as the foreign minister.
- Shoaib Suddle, a veteran civil servant, Muhammad Ali Durrani, and Senator Sarfaraz Bugti have all been confirmed to join the caretaker federal cabinet.
- Senator Sarfraz Bugti is being considered for the role of caretaker interior minister.
It has been disclosed that the new cabinet members will be sworn in soon.
Earlier, Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar made a request to Attorney General for Pakistan (AGP) Mansoor Usman Awan to continue his duties during the interim government tenure.
Mansoor Usman Awan was appointed as the AGP in March of this year, following the resignation of Shehzad Ata Elahi. He was appointed by the president on the advice of the prime minister under Article 100 of the Constitution.
Currently, Awan is involved in the defense of the court-martial of May 9 rioters in the Supreme Court. He is also defending various pieces of legislation, including the Supreme Court Practice and Procedure Act, 2023.
It is important to note that interim PM Anwarul Haq Kakar assumed office on August 14th, after taking the oath of office.
Upon assuming his responsibilities, the caretaker premier requested detailed briefings from all ministries on important matters.
