British Foreign Secretary David Cameron expressed regret that not all parties were allowed to contest the elections and that legal processes were used to prevent some political leaders from participating and using recognizable party symbols. He also noted the restrictions imposed on internet access, delays in reporting results, and claims of irregularities in the counting process. Cameron urged authorities in Pakistan to uphold fundamental human rights and the rule of law and emphasized the need for a civilian government to deliver crucial reforms and be accountable to the people. The Election Commission of Pakistan has released unofficial results of the election, with independent candidates leading in seats followed by Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz and Pakistan People’s Party.
