The Kremlin denied Ukraine’s allegations that Russian troops were using Starlink internet terminals on the frontline. Kyiv’s military intelligence agency claimed it had evidence of Russian troops using the terminals and accused Moscow of smuggling them into the country. Starlink, owned by Elon Musk’s SpaceX, is a network of satellites that provides internet to remote locations. Musk stated that his companies have undermined Russia and that Starlink has helped Ukraine. However, a Kremlin spokesman stated that the system is not active in Russia and cannot be officially used there. Despite this, Ukraine has accused Russian troops of using the device on the frontlines. Musk refuted claims that SpaceX had sold Starlink terminals to Russia. The Ukrainian spokesperson acknowledged that Starlink is not officially sold to Russia and accused Russia of obtaining them through smuggling. This is not the first time Ukraine and Musk have clashed over Starlink. Last year, Musk refused a request to activate the network in Sevastopol, Crimea, during a Ukrainian attack on Russia’s naval fleet. He cited the risk of being complicit in conflict escalation and war.
