Currently, the Supreme Court is hearing a case challenging the decision by the Peshawar High Court to restore the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party’s ‘bat’ election symbol. The three-judge bench consists of Chief Justice of Pakistan Qazi Faez Isa and justices Muhammad Ali Mazhar and Musarrat Hilali.

The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) filed a petition arguing that the Peshawar High Court did not issue a notice to the attorney general for Pakistan before proceeding with the case. The petition also highlighted that the high court’s decision conflicted with previous Supreme Court rulings and undermined the fundamental purpose of certain sections of the Elections Act.

During the hearing, the PTI counsel, ECP lawyer, and an estranged PTI party member appeared before the court. The Supreme Court is dealing with the ongoing legal battle between the PTI and the ECP regarding the restoration of the party’s election symbol.
