Keshav Maharaj, a lower-order batsman, hit the winning boundary against Muhammad Nawaz. Pakistan’s Shaheen Shah Afridi took three wickets, while Haris Rauf, Usama Mir, and Mohammad Wasim each grabbed two. Pakistan had earlier scored 270 runs in their innings, with skipper Babar Azam and Saud Shakeel both reaching half-centuries. South African bowler Tabraiz Shamsi was the standout performer, taking four wickets for 60 runs in his 10 overs. South Africa won the toss and elected to bat, hoping to end their three-match losing streak. The match was held at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. Pakistan made two changes to their squad due to illness, with Hasan Ali being replaced by Wasim Jr and Usama Mir being substituted by Muhammad Nawaz. Both teams expressed the importance of the match, with Azam emphasizing the need to improve in all areas, particularly fielding and bowling. South African captain Temba Bavuma returned after missing the previous two games, and three changes were made to the team that beat Bangladesh. Pakistan had lost three consecutive matches after winning their first two, while South Africa had won four out of their five games so far. The playing XIs for both teams were announced as well.
