Sri Lanka’s cricket board, Sri Lanka Cricket, has been suspended by the International Cricket Council (ICC) due to allegations of government interference and financial misconduct. The suspension came after Sri Lanka’s parliament called for the board’s resignation and the sports minister accused them of mishandling funds. The ICC has not yet determined the conditions of the suspension, but there is concern over the upcoming Under 19 World Cup, which Sri Lanka is scheduled to host in January. The board is currently embroiled in litigation after being sacked by the sports minister and then reinstated by the Court of Appeal. This is not the first time the ICC has suspended Sri Lanka due to political interference.
