Afghanistan scored their second major upset in the Cricket World Cup as they defeated Pakistan by eight wickets. Pakistan, batting first, managed to score 282 runs with contributions from Babar Azam and Abdullah Shafique. However, Afghanistan’s impressive batting performance, led by Ibrahim Zadran and Rahmat Shah, helped them chase down the target with six balls to spare. This victory puts both Afghanistan and Pakistan on two wins and three losses in the group stage. Afghanistan had earlier shocked defending champions England in the tournament. The match also saw Pakistan making a change in their squad, with Shadab Khan replacing Mohammad Nawaz due to illness, while Afghanistan brought in left-arm spinner Noor Ahmad in place of Fazalhaq Farooqi.
