South Africa’s Heinrich Klaasen made history with his outstanding performance in the fourth ODI against Australia. Klaasen, batting at number five, scored an incredible 174 runs off just 83 deliveries, setting a new record for the highest individual score in ODIs batting at that position. His innings included 13 fours and 13 sixes, showcasing his power-hitting abilities.

Klaasen’s exceptional knock played a crucial role in South Africa’s comprehensive victory, with the Proteas winning the game by a massive 164-run margin. He formed a solid partnership with David Miller, contributing to a fourth-wicket stand of 74 runs, followed by a record-breaking 222-run partnership between the two.

In the match, South Africa amassed a massive total of 416-5, with Klaasen’s brilliant innings being the cornerstone of their batting performance. David Miller also played a vital role with an unbeaten 45-ball 82, while Rassie van der Dussen contributed a well-made 62. The Australian bowling attack struggled to contain the South African batters, with Josh Hazlewood being the standout bowler, picking up two wickets.

However, it was Adam Zampa who found himself in the record books for the wrong reasons. The spinner had a forgettable day, with his bowling figures of 0-113 in 10 overs equaling the record for the worst bowling figures in an ODI set by his compatriot Mick Lewis. Zampa’s expensive spell added to Australia’s misery in the match.

In their chase of the target, Australia faltered and were dismissed for 252 in just 34.5 overs. Alex Carey was the top scorer for Australia with a blistering knock of 99 off 77 balls, but it wasn’t enough to save the team from defeat. South African pacers Lungi Ngidi and Kagiso Rabada shared seven wickets between them to seal the victory for their side.

Heinrich Klaasen’s record-breaking innings will be remembered as one of the greatest in ODI history. His power-hitting and ability to dominate the Australian bowling attack made him the standout performer of the match. The victory for South Africa helped level the series against Australia and served as a testament to their dominant performance.
