Legendary cricketer Sourav Ganguly has thrown his support behind Rohit Sharma to lead India in the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup 2024 in the United States and the West Indies. This comes amid uncertainty surrounding India’s T20I captaincy following Rohit Sharma’s resignation after the team’s early exit from the ICC T20 World Cup 2022. The management initially appointed all-rounder Hardik Pandya as Rohit Sharma’s replacement, but his injury concerns have limited his availability. Suryakumar Yadav briefly took on the leadership role before suffering an ankle injury, leaving Rohit Sharma to return as captain for the upcoming series against Afghanistan. Sourav Ganguly believes Rohit Sharma should lead India’s campaign for the second T20 World Cup, and also supports the inclusion of Virat Kohli in the tournament. India is placed in Group A in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 with Pakistan, co-hosts United States, Canada, and Ireland.
