A brave soldier lost his life during a fierce battle with terrorists in the North Waziristan district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan. The military’s media wing, Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR), confirmed the tragic incident.

The ISPR press release stated that security forces conducted an intelligence-based operation (IBO) in the general area of Mir Ali in North Waziristan. The operation led to an intense exchange of fire with the terrorists. Despite fighting gallantly, 21-year-old Sepoy Shakeel Shafqat, a resident of District Khanewal, embraced martyrdom.

The ISPR further mentioned that the operation was aimed at eliminating the terrorists present in the vicinity. The area is being thoroughly sanitized to ensure the complete eradication of any remaining threats.

“The security forces of Pakistan are resolute in their commitment to eliminate the menace of terrorism. The sacrifices made by our brave soldiers only strengthen our resolve,” emphasized the ISPR.

Pakistan has witnessed a surge in terrorist activities, particularly in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, following the termination of a ceasefire between the government and the banned militant group, Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan, in November last year.

According to a report released by the Pakistan Institute for Conflict and Security Studies, the first half of this year saw a worrisome increase in terror and suicide attacks, claiming the lives of 389 people across the country.

We salute the courage and sacrifice of Sepoy Shakeel Shafqat and all the brave soldiers who lay down their lives in the fight against terrorism. Their unwavering commitment to protect our nation serves as a constant reminder of the importance of unity and resilience in the face of adversity.
