In a statement, Shah Mehmood Qureshi voiced his dissatisfaction with the arrest of the PTI chief, stating that his life is in danger.

He criticized the Inspector General (IG) of Islamabad for issuing the arrest order without proper jurisdiction, as it should have been issued by the IG of Lahore.

Qureshi also highlighted the fact that the PTI chief was taken to Attock Jail instead of Adiala Jail, as directed by the court. He expressed concern over the lack of facilities at Attock Jail, where B Class facilities are not provided.

He further criticized the treatment of the PTI chief in jail, stating that lawyers were denied access to him and they cannot file an appeal without his signature on the power of attorney.

Qureshi also pointed out that the PTI chief was not taken for a medical examination by the Poly Clinic’s medical board, which is a mandatory right for every inmate and the responsibility of the jail administration.

Given these circumstances, Qureshi called on the judiciary to take notice and ensure the safety of the PTI chief.

Yesterday, the PTI chairman was arrested from his residence in Lahore after being found guilty of “corrupt practices” in the Toshakhana case. He has been sentenced to three years in prison and fined Rs 100,000.

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman was subsequently shifted to Attock jail after his arrest in the Toshakhana case. In addition to the prison sentence, the court also declared him ineligible to hold public office for five years.
