The Lahore High Court has halted the returning officer of the NA-128 constituency from notifying the election result based on Form 47. This decision came after a petition filed by Advocate Salman Akram Raja, a PTI-backed independent candidate, against Awn Chaudhry of the Istehkam-i-Pakistan Party. Mr. Raja and his counsel argued that he was not allowed to witness the vote count process and that his polling agent was not given Form 45 by the polling staff. The judge expressed disappointment upon learning that the RO was unreachable, and the ECP counsel opposed the petition, stating that the petitioner should have first filed a complaint with the commission before moving to the courts. However, Mr. Raja’s counsel emphasized that their concern was the result compilation, not the vote count, as only 13 polling stations’ results were compiled in the petitioner’s presence. As a result, Justice Najafi nullified the initial results based on Form 47 and demanded a written response from the ECP by Feb 12.
