Retired Police Officer in Karachi Murdered by Sons Through Strangulation

The body was set on fire to give the incident the color of suicide.

Retired police officer was killed after being strangled by his sons in Soldier Bazaar, and the incident was made to look like suicide by setting the body on fire. The police arrested both sons of the deceased and filed a case under the murder charges.

The deceased, identified as 65-year-old Salim Ansari son of Mahfooz Ansari, was found dead in his house in Kalooni Colony after being strangled. He lived alone in the first floor of the house after separating from his wife, while his married son lived on the ground floor.

The initial investigation revealed that the deceased, a retired police officer who had worked at Soldier Bazaar Police Station, was strangled to death. He had two sons, one of whom was a police officer and lived with his mother. The deceased used to run a small shop, and initial suspicions suggested that he had committed suicide. However, the Crime Scene Unit found evidence on the scene which indicated that it was a homicide.

The police officer son of the deceased, Imran, wanted to avoid a postmortem of his father’s body, but ACP Lyaqat Abad Division Aleena Rajpar disagreed and the postmortem was carried out. According to the postmortem report, the deceased police officer Salim Ansari was strangled to death, and based on the medical report, both sons of the deceased were charged under sections 302/34 in case number 122/2024.

SHO Soldier Bazaar Asad Ali told Express that the deceased retired police officer’s son Imran conspired with his brother, who is a serving police officer, to strangle their father and played a significant role in the postmortem process. The incident was an attempted suicide cover-up, but the postmortem process revealed the truth. Both sons of the deceased were arrested by Soldier Bazaar police and a case was registered against them.
