Disappointing news for fans of the HBO Max show ‘The Last of Us’ as filming for the second season is delayed until 2024.

‘The Last of Us’, based on the video game franchise of the same name, follows traumatized Joel Miller (Pedro Pascal) as he reluctantly embarks on a mission to escort young Ellie (Bella Ramsey) to a gang of terrorists who aim to use her to save the world.

As their journey progresses, Joel becomes increasingly protective of Ellie, forming a deep bond and thinking of her as family.

The first season of the HBO Max project received critical acclaim, leaving fans eagerly awaiting news of the confirmed sequel. However, they will be disappointed to learn that production will soon begin but filming won’t commence until later.

Due to the delayed production, ‘The Last of Us Season 2’ will be postponed. It’s worth mentioning that the Hollywood strikes halted the filming of other projects like ‘Daredevil: Born Again’ and ‘The Penguin’ series.

The Writers Guild of America (WGA) resolved its dispute, but the Screen Actors Guild-American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (SAG-AFTRA) is still negotiating. Showrunner Craig Mazin has stated that he can write the script, but filming cannot proceed without the stars.

The first season completed filming in a year, and fans were treated to many heart-wrenching episodes. It remains to be seen if the second season will live up to its predecessor.
