The Punjab Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) announced on Saturday that they had successfully eliminated a terrorist linked to over 50 murders and an attack on an intelligence agency office. The operation, which was intelligence-based, took place in Chiniot. The terrorist, Ghazanfar Nadeem, and his accomplice resisted, resulting in an exchange of fire with CTD personnel, leading to their deaths. Nadeem had been in hiding since 2011 and had a bounty of Rs2.5 million on his head. The CTD also recovered weapons and explosives from his hideout. Nadeem operated under various aliases and was responsible for multiple targeted killings and an attack on the ISI office in Faisalabad. The CTD believes that his elimination will significantly decrease terrorist activities in the region. Additionally, earlier this month, the CTD had conducted 70 intelligence-based operations, resulting in the arrest of nine suspects associated with banned organizations, including the Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan.
