The PTI has sent a letter to the International Monetary Fund requesting that the IMF ensure adherence to good governance guidelines and conditionalities before providing financial assistance to Pakistan. The party also called for an audit of at least 30% of national and provincial assembly seats, which they believe can be completed in two weeks.

The PTI’s move was criticized by political rivals PML-N and PPP, who viewed it as inviting foreign intervention in domestic affairs. Despite this, the IMF expressed readiness to engage with the new government, emphasizing the importance of policies for economic stability and prosperity.

The letter highlighted the PTI’s support for IMF financing with the condition of a free and fair election. The party alleged widespread intervention and fraud in the February 8 general elections, calling for a transparent investigation and audit.

The PTI urged the IMF to ensure good governance and fulfill conditionalities before providing financial assistance. They suggested an audit of assembly seats and emphasized the importance of upholding democratic principles for the country’s prosperity and stability.
