The newly-elected lawmakers of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf are planning to protest against alleged rigging in the Feb 8 elections. The decision was made at a meeting chaired by PTI provincial president and candidate for chief minister’s slot Ali Ameen Gandapur. The protest is set to take place at Gulistan Park on the Ring Road. The participants also discussed the alleged rigging on eight provincial assembly seats and one National Assembly seat in Peshawar.

In Bannu, main roads remained closed as PTI supporters continued their protest against the ‘skewed’ election results in two provincial assembly constituencies. The protesters staged sit-ins, causing inconvenience to commuters as roads leading to DI Khan, Kohat, Miramshah, and the Indus Highway were blocked. Only ambulances were allowed to pass through. PTI leaders alleged that the returning officers changed the poll results in connivance with their political opponents, turning PTI’s victories into defeats. They vowed to continue their protest until they were provided with their ‘rights’.
