The Faisalabad police arrested former Punjab provincial minister and PTI-affiliated independent candidate Khayal Ahmad Kastro from the premises of a lower court on Friday after his bail was cancelled in a May 9 case. Footage posted on PTI’s official social media account showed four unknown individuals in plain clothes forcibly moving Kastro into a white Toyota Yaris. One unidentified person holding a rifle appeared to be wearing a uniform similar to that of Punjab police personnel. According to the FIR, the May 9 vandalism case against Kastro was registered under Pakistan Penal Code Sections 290 and 291, as well as the Punjab Maintenance of Public Order Ordinance. PTI Secretary General Omar Ayub Khan condemned the arrest, stating that there was no justice, rule of law, or level playing field in Pakistan. He also highlighted similar incidents involving other PTI leaders being taken away by unidentified individuals.
