PTI officials have alleged that a fake web portal mimicking the official portal for obtaining information on party-backed independent candidates contesting the polls has been created. The claim is supported by evidence showing that the candidate information provided by the website in question, pticandidate.com, does not match the official lists issued by the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) or the PTI’s records. The official party web portal is pticandidates.com, with an ‘s’ at the end of ‘candidates’. PTI activists have warned that the fake site, which lacks the ‘s’, is providing misinformation about candidates. Fact-checking platform iVerify Pakistan has confirmed that the fake website is indeed providing incorrect information. The examination of various constituencies from the official ECP lists, PTI lists, and the fake website has shown discrepancies in candidate information and election symbols.
