The PTI, having decided to sit in opposition in national and provincial assemblies, is launching countrywide protests against alleged rigging in the recent general elections. Efforts are being made to form alliances with other parties and back-channel contacts with the PPP. Talks with various parties including QWP, JI, and JUI-F have taken place to seek support for the protest campaign. The JI has also been vocal in rejecting the election results and demanding a judicial commission to probe the fairness of the elections. The PTI’s core committee has finalized plans for the protests and called on the whole nation to participate against the alleged rigging.
