Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaarul Haq Kakar has directed the acceleration of the privatisation of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) and the outsourcing of airports’ operations. He emphasized the need for transparency in the privatisation process during a meeting with the aviation adviser, retired air marshal Farhat Hussain. PM Kakar stated that the privatisation of state-owned enterprises is a priority for his government to prevent further financial losses to the national exchequer. He also highlighted the potential for growth in the aviation industry through investment and called for the expedited outsourcing of airport operations to enhance services.

In a separate meeting with Unicef representative Abdullah Fadil, PM Kakar assured full support from the caretaker government for the launch of public welfare projects in Pakistan. He expressed the government’s willingness to provide all necessary facilities for Unicef’s projects in education, health, and other sectors. The Unicef representative informed the prime minister about approximately $1 billion worth of projects initiated by Unicef Pakistan in the last five years. These projects encompass various fields such as humanitarian aid, clean drinking water, food supply, education, and health.
