Prime Minister directs to ensure compensation is paid to those affected by rain – Pakistan

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has instructed the government to provide compensation to those affected by the recent rains and snowfall in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP). The inclement weather has caused significant damage, with at least 40 people killed and 62 injured in rain-related incidents in KP. Additionally, 635 houses were damaged, floods affected homes in Balochistan, and landslides blocked main arteries in Gilgit-Baltistan (GB).
Provincial authorities are on high alert and providing assistance to all affected areas. PM Sharif visited Gwadar, which was hit by floods, and announced a compensation package for those affected. In a meeting at the Governor House in KP, he directed that compensations be given to those affected in the province.
The meeting, attended by PML-N leaders and NDMA Chairman Lt Gen Inam Haider Malik, reviewed damages and discussed rescue efforts. PM Shehbaz was briefed on the measures taken by the provincial administration, PDMA, NDMA, and NHA. Main highways in affected areas are being cleared, and a compensation package was announced: Rs2 million for families of the deceased, Rs500,000 for the injured, Rs700,000 for destroyed houses, and Rs350,000 for partially damaged houses.
The federal government is committed to supporting those affected and PM Shehbaz directed all relevant organizations to participate in relief and rehabilitation activities. He also instructed NDMA to work with district and provincial administrations to ensure swift rescue and rehabilitation operations.
