President Alvi advocates for the promotion of chess at the grassroots level

President Dr Arif Alvi has advocated for the promotion of chess in Pakistan, particularly at the grassroots level in partnership with international organizations and the private sector. This call came during a meeting with a delegation from the International Chess Federation (FIDE) at Aiwan-e-Sadr. The delegation, which included the President of FIDE Arkady Dvorkovich and Sheikh Sultan bin Khalifa Al-Nehayan, discussed the potential for expanding chess-related activities in the country. President Alvi emphasized the mental and educational benefits of chess and suggested its inclusion in the education system. He also highlighted the importance of organizing chess competitions and tournaments, as well as developing collaborations between the public and private sectors to support and promote chess in Pakistan. The delegation informed President Alvi about FIDE’s role in promoting chess globally and suggested promoting chess at the primary school level and online participation in world chess tournaments.
