DERA ISMAIL KHAN: Faisal Karim Kundi, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister, stated on Tuesday that the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) supports timely elections in the country.

In an interview with journalists at the PID regional office, Mr. Kundi emphasized that all political parties should participate in the electoral process and respect the will of the people.

As the central information secretary of PPP, Mr. Kundi strongly opposed the imposition of a ban on any political party. He emphasized that victory and defeat are inherent to politics and it is not appropriate for political parties to shy away from the democratic process and elections due to fear of losing.

Moreover, he expressed confidence that a caretaker government would be established within the next few days. Mr. Kundi hoped that this interim administration would ensure that the upcoming elections are conducted freely, fairly, and transparently.

Regarding infrastructure development, Mr. Kundi highlighted that due to the previous government’s incompetence, no interchange was constructed on the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) route in Paniala tehsil. In an effort to address this issue, he personally wrote a letter to the Federal Minister for Communication and the Chairman of National Highways and Motorways, requesting the construction of an interchange on the CPEC route in the tehsil headquarters.

Mr. Kundi also pointed out the disparity in property taxes among different provinces. He stated that residents of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa are paying a higher rate of 23%, while residents of Punjab and Sindh pay only 5% and 3%, respectively. He called for the abolition of these additional taxes in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, as the province has been heavily affected by terrorism. He pledged to request the Prime Minister to allocate funds for development projects in Dera Ismail Khan, which were inaugurated during his recent visits.

Furthermore, Mr. Kundi expressed his belief that Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari would become the next Prime Minister of Pakistan.

In a separate event at a local hotel, Mr. Kundi, along with State Life Insurance Corporation Chairman Shoaib Javed Hussain, inaugurated the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Zone of State Life Takaful. On this occasion, Mr. Kundi announced a collaboration between the Benazir Income Support Program (BISP) and SLIC to provide free cancer treatment to female beneficiaries across the country.

In another development, the police booked Aamir Hussain, the private gunman of former candidate for NA-44, Makhdoom Ali Raza Shah, for wearing a police uniform despite being an employee of the department. A case was registered against Hussain at Kirri Khaisur police station.
