The PPP announced the formation of a committee consisting of Qamar Zaman Kaira, Murad Ali Shah, Saeed Ghani, Nadeem Afzal Chan, Sardar Sanaullah Zehri, and Shuja Khan for contact and coordination with political parties.

During a press conference, Bilawal Bhutto stated that the PPP would not join the federal government but would instead vote for the prime minister candidate of PML-N and sit in opposition. He acknowledged that the PPP does not have the mandate to form a government and therefore, would not put himself forward for the candidacy of prime minister.

Bilawal Bhutto also mentioned that PTI had refused to form a coalition with the PPP, leaving the PML-N as the only party to invite the PPP to join the government. The senior PPP leadership advised against forming a coalition government with PML-N and instead suggested sitting in opposition by respecting the mandate of independent candidates.

The participants of the CEC meeting suggested that making a PPP prime minister would be a political loss and proposed holding talks with PTI instead of PML-N.
