PM Leads CCI Meeting to Approve Population Census 2023


The approval of the digital census results dominated the agenda of today’s CCI session, with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif presiding over the meeting.

During the session, the Ministry of Planning and Development will provide a briefing on the digital census results to seek approval from the constitutional forum.

In attendance at the CCI session are Chief Minister of Sindh Murad Ali Shah, Caretaker CM Punjab Mohsin Naqvi, Minister of Finance Ishaq Dar, federal ministers Ahsan Iqbal, Naveed Qamar, Saad Rafique, Qamar Zaman Kaira, and ministers of law, information technology, and communication. The Chief Secretaries of all four provinces are also present at this crucial meeting.

The participants will review a report compiled by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) during the CCI meeting. The PBS has successfully conducted the latest Population Census and compiled the results, which have been submitted to the CCI for guidance and approval from the constitutional forum.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif recently announced that the upcoming general elections will be based on the 2023 census.
