In a devastating incident, two pilots lost their lives in a mid-air collision during an air race in Reno, Nevada.

The Reno Air Racing Association (RARA) has reported that the collision occurred as the planes were landing, marking the end of the T-6 Gold race.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has confirmed that only the pilots were involved in the crash. The two aircrafts involved were identified as a single-engine North American T-6G and a single-engine North American AT-6B. The pilots have been identified as Nick Macy and Chris Rushing.

An investigation will be conducted to determine the cause of the incident. As a result of the tragedy, the air races have been temporarily suspended by the airshow organization. This year’s National Championship Air Races marked the final edition of the event.

In a separate incident at the Wings Over Dallas Airshow, two World War II-era airplanes collided. Social media footage captured the moment of collision, resulting in a fiery explosion and the aircraft crashing to the ground.

The Federal Aviation Administration has stated that the involved planes were a Boeing B-17 Flying Fortress and a smaller Bell P-63 Kingcobra. The exact number of individuals on board is unclear at this time.

While the casualties are yet to be determined, it has been reported that no spectators or anyone on the ground were injured.
