The Peshawar High Court (PHC) extended the bar on oath-taking for beneficiaries of National Assembly reserved seats until March 13 following a petition by the Sunni Ittehad Council (SIC) and PTI-backed independents. The Election Commission had rejected SIC’s claim, leading to a distribution of seats to other parties like PML-N and PPP. The PTI plans to challenge the decision. A larger bench has been formed to address constitutional questions in the matter.

During a hearing, the court decided to extend the stay order until March 13 due to the absence of the Attorney General of Pakistan. The case will continue with the new AGP. Various parties expressed concerns about the allocation of reserved seats, but the court emphasized the need for a complete review before issuing a verdict. The hearing will resume on March 13.
