The Peshawar High Court has given a warning that if the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf isn’t allowed to carry out political activities in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, it would call the province’s caretaker chief minister and the chief election commissioner for explanation. This occurred during a hearing into the petition of former prime minister Imran Khan’s party for contempt proceedings against the provincial government and the administration of Mansehra district. The court fixed November 23 for the next hearing into the PTI’s contempt petition against the caretaker government and Mansehra’s district administration for “not allowing the holding of a workers’ convention despite the court’s orders.” The petition was filed by PTI provincial president Ali Amin Gandapur, its provincial legal coordinator Mashal Azam and Insaf Lawyers Forum provincial vice-president Malik Arshad Ahmad. The hearing revealed several conflicting statements regarding the permitting of the PTI to carry out political activities in the province. The AG produced certain documents on the basis of which the said order was issued. However, the bench observed that apparently, those documents raised no serious issue.
