Pakistan strongly condemned Israel’s attacks on the Palestinian people and infrastructure in Gaza, calling for accountability for war crimes. At the UN General Assembly, Ambassador Muhammad Usman Iqbal Jadoon denounced Israel’s indiscriminate use of force and other actions as violations of international humanitarian law. Meanwhile, pro-Palestinian protesters rallied in New York City, denouncing the US veto of a UN Security Council resolution for a ceasefire. The General Assembly also adopted a resolution stressing the need for a durable ceasefire and improvement in living conditions for Palestinians in Gaza. The Pakistani envoy also highlighted the urgency of addressing climate-change-induced disasters and the underfunding of the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs. He called for zero tolerance for violations of international humanitarian law and urged the international community to address root causes of poverty and humanitarian crises.
