In a recent development, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced the inclusion of Shahnawaz Dahani and Zaman Khan as backup pacers for their team. This decision comes after Haris Rauf and Naseem Shah suffered niggles during their match against India.

The PCB has stated that this move is a precautionary measure to ensure the fitness and well-being of the players leading up to the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup next month. Haris and Naseem will continue to be under the observation of the team’s medical panel.

The team management will consider requesting replacements from the ACC technical committee if Haris or Naseem are ruled out for the next seven days, according to the statement.

Pakistan faced a setback when Haris Rauf sustained a strain and was unable to continue playing. Following that, Naseem Shah also walked off the field due to discomfort in his hand.

In the Asia Cup 2023’s rain-hit Super Four clash, India inflicted a crushing defeat on Pakistan by 228 runs. Virat Kohli and returning KL Rahul played unbeaten centuries, propelling India to a total of 356-2. Pakistan was bowled out for just 128 runs, with injured bowlers Haris Rauf and Naseem Shah unable to bat. Indian spinner Kuldeep Yadav claimed remarkable figures of 5-25.

It is essential for Pakistan to ensure the availability of a strong bowling line-up as they prepare for the upcoming ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup. The inclusion of backup pacers will provide them with the necessary support and depth in their squad.
