In a recent press conference held alongside Sindh Governor Kamran Tessori, Caretaker Energy Minister Muhammad Ali announced that the government is taking strict actions against electricity and gas thieves. The government aims to control the electricity tariff and provide affordable power to industries starting from October 31. The increase in inflated bills was a result of electricity theft, and the tariff was raised due to the increase in USD price.

The energy minister acknowledged the difficulty of amending previous agreements, but assured that the government would find a solution that complies with the terms. He also emphasized that low-cost electricity would be made available to industries during the winter season.

While the prices of solar equipment have not been reduced, the government plans to develop a strategy to promote solar power adoption. Governor Tessori praised the energy minister for keeping his promises and expressed optimism about reviving the national economy with the support of the government team.

On a separate note, Caretaker Minister for Information and Broadcasting Murtaza Solangi revealed that consultations with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) were ongoing to provide relief in electricity bills. The prime minister has instructed relevant stakeholders to engage in discussions with the IMF, and a clear position on the relief for the masses is expected to be announced in the coming days. The government is also considering energy-saving measures to address the numerous factors contributing to the current energy crisis.

With the introduction of the new electricity tariff and efforts to curb theft, the government aims to ensure a sustainable and affordable power supply for industries and the general public.
