Nawaz Sharif, PML-N supremo, announced plans to form a coalition government in a ‘victory speech’ on Friday. He hinted at joining hands with several parties to forge a PDM-style alliance. The party has also expressed the intention to have independents on board to form the government. Sharif declared the PML-N as the ‘single largest party’ in the polls and tasked his brother, Shehbaz Sharif, with establishing contacts with PPP, JUI-F, and MQM for a potential alliance. However, he did not mention PTI in this regard. Some PML-N members expressed skepticism about the victory and its implications for the party’s credibility. These developments come after the Election Commission of Pakistan declared that the PML-N had won only 64 national assembly seats of a total of 265 on Friday.
